Why does your camera always not work you want it?? This week we tried to take the nephews to the beach to use their scooters. . I had never seen the water so moody splashing and crashing over the road as we travelled down through Torquay. No sign of any beach so we carried on down the road to Paignton. As we arrived in Preston I saw the waves crashing over the beach huts …never seen that before. Obviously no place to scoot and two little boys getting a little frustrated.
Off we went to try Paignton but the waves were the same raging and crashing onto the cars parked along the sea front. Camera in hand I took loads of pictures and a video as we drove through the crashing breaker.
The boys were so disappointed we decided to try one more place Goodrington. The same more crashing waves right over the beach huts.
More pics taken of the foam and an internet enquiry.
Sea foam, ocean foam, beach foam, or spume is a type of foam created by the agitation of seawater, particularly when it contains higher concentrations of dissolved organic matter (including proteins, lignins, and lipids) derived from sources such as the offshore breakdown of algal blooms. These compounds can act as surfactants or foaming agents. As the seawater is churned by breaking waves in the surf zone adjacent to the shore, the presence of these surfactants under these turbulent conditions traps air, forming persistent bubbles that stick to each other through surface tension. Due to its low density and persistence, foam can be blown by strong on-shore winds from the beachface inland. Thanks to wikipaedia
Then off home and the pictures were no longer there…HELP where are they? all lost.
Next day off we went again three cameras this time. 2 phones with cameras and a new just bought camera. Phone 1 when I checked it kept saying uploading – all lost again. new camera – no Sd card internal memory used up so had to take a photo and then send it. Finally phone two here are a few of the photos that we eventually got…but sadly no foam!!
